Robert McDonnell's blood transfusion apparatus made by Thompson & O'Neill, Dublin. McDonnell carried out the first human to human blood transfusion in Ireland in April 1865 on a 14 year old girl called Mary Anne Dooley in Jervis Street Hospital. McDonnell received his LRCSI in 1851 and became President of RCSI in 1877.
