William Wallace Papers

Patient catalogues maintained by William Wallace. Catalogues contain manuscript entries relating to individual patient case histories, including manner of presentation, diagnosis and treatment. All entries relate to skin, venereal and syphilitic diseases. Volume 10 is missing from the series.

Colour illustrations commissioned by William Wallace depicting patients presenting with skin complaints, many of whom are identified by name. Illustrations in this collection include graphic depictions of the body including male and female genitalia, often in the context of venereal disease [sexually transmitted disease], commonly syphilis.

Certificate for a Doctorate of Medicine awarded to William Wallace from the University of Edinburgh, dated 12 July 1833. The certificate is made of vellum and has a light blue ribbon attached to the bottom [to which it was possible a seal was previously attached].. The text is in Latin and has 21 signatures.
