Colour illustration of an arm. The manuscript note on the front reads 'J. Jacob Feb. 7 1822. The small eruption had been treated with mercury and the patient discharged as cured. The large scabs (the scale of which are not represented large enough) are part of a second crop. Man at Stephens' Hospital [Dr. Steevens' Hospital]'. The manuscript note on the back reads 'No. 20[?]s'. The illustrations is mounted on card.

Manuscript note that reads 'The Button Scurvy Scabs were so much altered that J. Jacob could not paint from them - he has improved those that were not sufficiently relieved. If Mr. Colles chooses any other that he deems characteristic they can be delineated. Drawn by J. Jacob'.
