Large leather bound book containing coloured illustrations of varying degrees of skin, venereal and/or syphilitic infections made for William Wallace. Gold script on the spine reads 'Drawings Done for William Wallace 1791-1838'. A manuscript note on the first page reads 'Drawings done for William Wallace, with annotations by John Morgan'.

Group of coloured illustrations with manuscript notes showing the different colourations in Nichol's skin after experimentation. The manuscript note on the envelope reads "Wallace kept a negro [Nichol] at his house to make observations on his skin. Drawings were [made] by his two young daughters, under his direction (in this envelope). The elder daughter died in her 18th year of Scarlet Fever. Drawings of experiments on the skin of the negro Nichol".
